Success Story

Mid-Columbia Medical Center, Visiting Health Services

vhs.jpg

"I am a 90 year old widow and retired nurse. I have had serious problems with congestive heart failure (CHF) and cellulitis. My cellulitis resulted in very large open wounds on my legs. Less than one year ago I was unable to walk at home and could not feed myself. My doctor was very concerned that I would not respond to treatment of my wounds. Visiting Heath Nurses visited me at home to provide wound care and my leg ulcers are healed. An aide visited weekly to help me bathe and a physical therapist helped me gain my strength and ability to walk at home. I am now able to feed myself and to walk at home without assistance. A VHS social worker helped me coordinate in-home care and make long term care arrangements. My health and my independence have improved with assistance from VHS."
