 |
| The
Goldendale Head Start Preschool is the small-site state champion
of Read With Me: The 2003 RIF Community Reading Challenge.
More than 1,100 sites participated and Goldendale's Head Start
was one of 52 sites honored throughout the nation. The program
is designed to motivate children to read. RIF or Reading Is
Fundamental is a program that provides books for Head Start
children who may have no books, or few books, of their own.
Our community is extremely proud of the Goldendale Head Start
Center's accomplishment.

Klickitat, Skamania, Wasco, Sherman, and Hood River Counties, together, form a community rich in possibilities.
But we are not without challenges. The gaps between the haves
and the have-nots, between the promise and the peril divide our
community. This leaves many hard-working people with limited opportunities
to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
Klickitat, Skamania, Wasco, Sherman, and Hood River County Statistics: Get to Know
